Cezanne Country

I loved how Marianne described Cezanne's methods in creating depth and perspective. In the background is his beloved Mountain Victoire (which he painted dozens of times). Actually, it can not be seen from the perspective where he stood while painting this scene. I do wish I hadn't lopped its top off!

As a youth and young man, Cezanne used to visit and walk amongst the quarries. When he began painting, he had to take a horse and buggy ride, then had to climb a significant distance with his easels, paints and equipment. So he used this little place to store everything he needed. (According to Marianne, who has been a guide at the site since 2006, he had the place built. According to the link I posted he rented the place.)
